by Dan PalladinoYou'll notice that the key signature for this lick is labeled as G minor and the chord indicated is Gm7. In many cases, this lick will also work over a G7 chord; the note Bb will simply function as #9 over the G7.
The half step between C# and D gives this lick a banjo kind of sound. This is especially prominent if you let those two notes ring together. Happy practicing!
